Disclaimer : This is my opinion. If you think it makes sense embrace it, if you dont then just stop reading. Dont come and comment stupid nonsense all as I know this somewhat an issue or utter sensitivity!!
God. Some of us beleive in HIM, some of us don't. Some of us see HIM as the ultimate, some of us see him as something as simple as humanity.
I am just writing this out of frustration of some people who are so called religious. Where did religion come from? Why is religion which I assume is a set of rules which can be followed to live a good life and ultimately seek God being used as a weapon to target and kill each other?
Lets not get carried away, let start from the little pesky things that I am deeply iritated about.
1. Dont say my God's name, you are not my religion.
I think the first most basic lesson in all religion is to see GOD as one. Yes, God is one. Then ask me why we have so many Gods? Let me explain this in the most simple manner i can think of. God is ONE. THE ONE. Different people see him in a different way, beleive in a different way. Thats all.
Lets just say your dad is a policemen, does everyone see your dad as DAD? He might be funny and kind to you, but can he be the same with a theif? When he is with you he is your dad, when he is with your mom he is a husband, when he is in a police office he is a policeman. Does that make the person many person? Just because many people see him in different ways? What I am trying to say is, God takes different forms, to perform different tasks but he is ulimately one. He takes different names, with different people but ultimately he is one.
So, stop giving me the stink eye whenever i say "Jesus, save me", it does not mean I am converted to a christian and it does not mean I dont like being Hindu. I have faith in HIM, thats all that matters. Whether I want to call Jesus, ot Lord Muruga or Lord Shiva, its my wish.
2. You dont go to temple so you are not a good Hindu.
Yes, it has been almost 4 years since I set foot in a temple. I went last week, becuase I felt like going. Thats all. You say God is everywhere, then why do we need to go to temple to worship him? We go and perform archanai, donate a small fortune to the temple in hopes of God will do good to you? Are you trying to bribe God? Is this really what our religion has thought us?
Why can't you donate the money to a fellow human being that has the talents and determination to become a doctor but cant becuase he/she doesnt not have money? Then he/she can go one saving people's life? Isnt this what our religion teaches us to do? To help other people? Than to bribe God? Asking him for a house, job some even ask for a lover!! Kekekeke....
Besides, is temples what it used to be? Damn bloody rules, and the best part is, those arent the rules that guide you to worship god the right way, but rules that are dumb rules like this one aunty
"Enna ma, todhu koode poodame kovilekku vare...inthe mathirilam vare koodathu ma, lakshnama thodhu lam pothukitte than varanum"
"What is this? why arent you wearing any earrings? You should wear all this when you come to temple".
WTF!? I come temple to pray lady not to be a walking jewellery store. This is why I dont beleive in going to temples as often. Phone will ring, people talking nonsense stories, people dating (seen with my own eyes) Neway, my grandfather do prayers at home. I beleive in God, I try my best to do good to people.
Does not mean I am an atheist just because I dont go to temple. If I feel like going I will go, if I dont I will not.
3. Why you have so many Gods? Your God's got wives ar??
I am deeply iritated with these kinda question. Seriously! I mean if you would have asked this question 20 years ago, I might have have the courtesy to answer you, but now, in the era of limitless information all on your fingertips you still want to ask this type of question?? Why dont you go and google up, find some information on what really is then you come and ask me if you dont understand instead of cynically asking me these type of questions?
Yes we have a lot of Gods, but God is ultimately one. He is just in different forms so that we humans can worship HIM. Why some people pray to Muruga but some to Amman? Becuase of preference. Thats all.
Yes "my" God has wives. So? These wives that we are talking about are not the sexual wives that you might have. Wives here is merely a Sakhti. God does not have a form.
If I were to tell you, God has no shape but he has incorporated some sakhti can you imagine? Can you see it? Does it like make you understand? No rite? Which is merely why Gods took form so that we have something solid for us to worship. To reach the maturity of worshipping God as he is(formless) will take a lot of determination and time and patience.
Please stop using religion to attack each other. Learn how to keep an open mind as many different people have many different ways.
God is not a cosmic bellboy for whom we can press a button to get things done. ~Harry Emerson Fosdick
